    5. In all fairness I gave this book 2 stars because I could see where some would really benefit from it but for a novice like myself this is NOT the book to start with. When I hear the words slow-cooker my mind conjures up images of me literally throwing food at the contraption across my kitchen; whatever makes it in, wins & I turn the knob on. Six hours later I come home and a dinner is magically served up on my table. No? That's not slow-cooking? Well that's funny because that's what all the [...]

    6. While I appreciate that not everyone wants to exactly follow the Paleo lifestyle, when I get a book on Paleo cooking, that's what I want. The book also feels formulaic and uninspired. No pictures to make it interesting. And too much emphasis on chicken thighswhich hubby won't eat. I do give it credit, though, for telling when (and how) recipes can be cut in half, which is useful for small households like mine.

    7. Doesn't seem like a bad book, but it just doesn't seem like the style for me. I prefer cookbooks with photos, and if they don't have pics, I like the recipes to seem somewhat familiar so I at least know what the end goal in mind is. I didn't see a single recipe in this book that prompted me to say, "ooh, I must try this!"

    8. Not super impressed. Maybe it's the lack of photos, or it seems there is a lack of personality here, or emphasis on either health or flavor. Feels rote. (Inside back cover shows author has written 16 similar books)
