    2. Thanks to Entangled Publishing for the ARC of this book.2.5 stars.Jessica's still getting over the bad break up with her ex-fiance who cheated on her as she attends her cousin's wedding in her father's homeland, jolly, old England. While at Tilly's wedding, she encounters Nick. The guy who saw her at herworst a little over 2 years ago when she last visited England for her grandfather's funeral. She got drunk after the funeral and basically sobbed and threw up in a plant pot at this pub while Nick [...]

    3. Fans of Bridget Jones type chick-lit will enjoy this one. Heroine thinks she's too curvy and has no class. The hero thinks she perfect and he's quite the cutie.Adorable book that gave me a few chuckles.

    4. There are so many fun quirks about this book, it would take me forever to explain them all. It is sufficient for me to say this book is fun, flirtatious, and an entertaining way to pass the time. When I read, I read for the sake of escaping and pretending to be someone else for a while. I was able to do this in the character of Jess. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a fun loving, British, silly romp that will take you away from dishes, laundry, or the sound of your kid's [...]

    5. Luck Be a LadyPleaseFlying to England to serve as maid of honor for her cousin's wedding just four months after her own fiancé dumped her is painful as hell for Orlando's O Tart magazine beauty editor, Jessica Devlin. She couldn't let the opportunity slip by, though, not when she had been working like a dog to free her schedule for the subsequent two week vacation with her relatives across the pond.Thoughts of the painful breakup and agony over all the could-have-beens weren't nearly as bad as [...]

    6. I'll start by a confession. I knew I wanted to read Lucky Girl long before I knew anything about the story or read the blurb. All it took was one glance at the cute and beautiful cover and I was a goner. But I believe you can understand me, just look at it, doesn't it make you want to read it? *sighs*So now that I've gotten this off my chest let me tell you about the story.Based on the cover and premise I was expecting a cute, quirky and funny romantic chick lit and I was not disappointed. Lucky [...]

    7. You can also read this review at Reflections on Reading Romance Rating: 2 out of 5This contemporary romance is billed as a Bridget Jones-type chick lit book, and its description made it sound like a fun read. Unfortunately, Lucky Girl was painful to read. In fact, I almost didn’t finish it, because I found the heroine to be incredibly annoying. I’m glad that in the end I did finish the book, because the writing definitely improves halfway in, but that improvement was not enough to save the b [...]

    8. Jess Devlin suffered the ultimate betrayal when her fiance dumped her for someone else. As perfect timing would have it, she is travelling to London to be a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding. The dress is unflattering and doesn’t suit her and Jess’s humiliation is all the more punctuated by the fact that the gorgeous Nick will be at the wedding. Last time she was in London, for the funeral of her grandfather, Jess ended up a drunken mess in tears. Nick held her hair back and comforted her [...]

    9. More reviews can be found at my blog: Nomalicious ReadsLucky Girl by Cate Lord isn't the best book in the world, but its a nice light and funny read - with its definite yummy moments. The heroine of this tale is Jessica Devlin, an American girl in England for a couple weeks on holiday for her cousins wedding. Its pretty much an American version of Bridget Jone's Diary - well it seemed that way to me. Jessica was an amusing and fun character to read about. Although at the start of the book she see [...]

    10. Jessica Devlin doesn't really feel like a lucky girl. Four months ago, she came home late one night to find her fiance banging one of the receptionists from his office. His nasty comment that she couldn't blame him since she wasn't home and that she was lousy in bed led not just to the direct demise of their engagement but also to the continuing death spiral of Jess' ego. Unfortunately, she's spent the past four months drowning her sorrows in Ben & Jerry's.Her cousin is getting married in En [...]

    11. What a fun book this turned out to be. It wasn't a book that took itself too seriously but it was still an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Jessica Devlin is a beauty writer for a beauty magazine in Orlando, FL who is on her way to England for two weeks to attend her cousin's wedding and to take a much needed vacation from her life. The last time Jess was in England was for her grandfather's funeral and she was there with her ex-fiance. Her ex-fiance did a real number on her and she's focusin [...]

    12. Jess isn’t expecting to meet the man who would forever block her nightmare of an ex-fiance out of her mind forever on her trip to England, but she does. Nick, known as the playboy, is something who Jess would have never imagined being involved with, but only days after her cousins marriage she is. Could he possibly leave behind his days hopping from one bed to the next for Jess? Only time and a lot of luck will tell.Cate Lord’s novel Lucky Girl is her first foray into the world of Chick Lit. 13. Review reposted from my blog, Smitten with ReadingMy Review:This was a fun and entertaining afternoon read. I enjoyed getting to know Jess and the very-sexy Nick. I loved Jess and her attitude. She is getting her first vacation after 2 years and has just broken off her engagement 4 months ago after finding her fiance cheating on her. This vacation leads her to England where the majority of her family is located to attend a wedding. Her goal is to be single, engaging, and to have a fabulous time [...]

    15. I really enjoyed Lucky Girl as pure entertainment. Jess's exploits from leaving Orlando to returning were highly entertaining and the true essence of classic chicklit to me. There is humor, self-depreciation, girlfriends, makeovers, great clothes and shoes, friendly pets, good men, bad men, bad women and so much more. While some plot lines were a little glossed over for me, overall the main plot lines were covered well and the characters rang true. I loved Jess and her stay true to your girl fri [...]

    16. Reading this book was the literary equivalent of eating cotton candy. It was sweet and fun to consume, but there was very little of substance in it. Either Jess had the worst self-esteem ever, or she just held some sort of cross-Atlantic appeal for all these English guys, because I never quite got what there was about her that was so amazing. There's luck, but whatever she was tapping into to set into motion this chain of events had to be something else entirely. Ultraluck? Uberluck? Jess seemed [...]

    18. Jessica Devlin is devastated when her fiancée calls off the engagement. Well, after she finds him in bed with another woman. To mend her broken heart, she whisks away from her hometown of Orlando to England, where she is the maid of honor at her cousin’s wedding. Jessica also needs a much needed break from working non-stop at O Tart magazine, where she works as a beauty editor but is trying to move up on the totem pole. A two week vacation to a foreign land sounds like just what she needs for [...]

    20. Rating: 3.5/5LUCKY GIRL was a sweet and funny story. It's a modern day fairy tale about a dashing English Prince Charming falling in love with an average American girl-next-door. The heroine of the book is fashion magazine editor Jessica "Jess" Devlin, who travels to England to be a bridesmaid in her cousin's wedding. Four months earlier, she had been dumped by her serious boyfriend, so she's looking forward to a much needed getaway across the pond. After arriving at the church, Jess is both exc [...]

    21. Unfortunately this was a book I had to give up with. I have had a few like this, this year and for someone who used to always persevere with a book no matter how much I wasn't enjoying it, I am actually finding it easier this year and this happened to be one of the unlucky few.I really am not sure if this author is English/British or American, but I am leaning more towards American because the language of this book was just not English at all. And I just couldn't get past all of the American dia [...]

But I did not regret reading this book. In fact, I quite enjoy reading it. It is light-hearted and easy read. It's fun reading what's inside Jessica's mind, although I found some of her imaginations were hilarious. Despite fussing about the extra 10 pounds, I like that she did not cut down on her food intake and her cravings o [...]

    23. It's very rare that I'll be excited to read a book that lives up to the expectations I have of it. I enjoyed reading about Jess Devlin and her stay in London. Jess is back in England after 2 years. This time around thought many things are different. She's alone, her two-timing fiance left her months ago, and she's still heartbroken, and she's not there to bury a loved one. Instead she's there to be a bridesmaid in one of her cousin's weddings. She didn't know the best man at the wedding would be [...]

    24. This was a cute book that I received as an ARC from Netgalley. I ended up enjoying the book, but it took quite awhile before it really captured my attention. From the beginning, I found the main character, Jess, to be pretty annoying most of the time. She constantly thought derogatory things about herself and measured her actions by those of a cartoon character. Once it was revealed that the main male character, Nick, was also a fan of the cartoon, a few of those references were kind of sweet an [...]

    25. Reviewed by Jenebook provided by publisherAfter reading the book and sitting on the review for well over a week, I'm still at odds at how I really felt about Lucky Girl. The book had it's moments. I found myself laughing out loud at some of Jess' antics and cared enough about Nick and Jess that I teared up at one point. But at the same time, Nick just seemed too good to be true and Jess just seemed to rub me the wrong way. I would have loved to have gotten to know and understand Nick better. I n [...]

    26. I miss ready chick lit with light humor and normal working girl with man problems, so when I saw this available on Netgalley I requested to read it. I love Jess, she is not pretentious nor sickly sweet. She is just a normal girl. Jess is relatable. Most women have reservations after being dumped by a man they love and along with it some self confidence gets taken away. In this book Jess exhibited those issue but they are not as heavy and annoying as some. I like the transition of the story. Girl [...]

    27. From atastyreadLucky Girl, the upcoming release from Cate Lord was delightful treat. The story was light, funny and sweet, with a little bit of heat mixed in. It asks the question, "Do you believe in Fate?" The two main characters, Nick and Jess, have a chance meeting two years ago while she was in London for her favorite Grandfathers funeral. While attending her cousins wedding two years later, the two are thrown together again, and we follow them on a rollercoaster ride of a time. What will ha [...]

After being dumped by her ex-fiance she is put of men for life and is hoping that her vacation to England will find her partying her life away and enjoying herself as a single woman. Her vacation to England is for her cousin wedding where she is being bridesmaid. 29. This was such a fun read! I really enjoyed all of it. What woman doesn't have insecurities about herself, especially after a heartbreak? I loved how Jess worked through them and was brave enough to learn to love again even though it meant that she might very well get her heart trampled again.I loved all the quirky references to Chicky Dee and her Penguin Spy Man and laughed numerous times through out the book. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good contemporary romance/chick lit and w [...]

    30. Fun, sassy heroine. HOT hero with a sexy British accent. Lots of laughs and heart. And the setting of jolly old England just envelops you as you read, transporting you across the pond, making me yearn for fish and chips, biscuits, and a good old snog. LOVED Lucky Girl!

    31. After you get pass the boring beginning and past the parts that are really just meant to make the book seem longer it gets better. Keep in mind theres not really alot of suspense or action in the book but I am glad I read it.
